A word before you start

You already bring backend experience to this Path. Choose one familiar language and one useful next drill. A focused routine gives you space to practise explaining what you know.

A word before you start

Familiar patterns can take extra thought in a timed conversation. Start with a small example, explain your invariant, and check the boundaries. Rebuilding from a blank editor helps make your reasoning easier to draw on.

A word before you start

An API conversation is a chance to make everyday engineering decisions visible. Trace one request, clarify its contract, and consider who can access the result. Keep the implementation small enough to explain and test.

A word before you start

Start with what each row means and which states must stay consistent. A small dataset and a two-request timeline can make query and transaction choices easier to explain than a list of database features.

A word before you start

You do not need to predict every operational issue at once. Follow one job through an interruption, choose a useful observation, and explain how work resumes. Clear limits and recovery steps give the discussion a practical shape.

A word before you start

A design conversation can grow from a simple request flow. Clarify the need, sketch a coherent starting point, and add detail when a constraint calls for it. Give yourself room to ask questions and adapt.

A word before you start

Ordinary engineering work can contain useful stories. Describe a real decision, your contribution, and what you learned. Specific examples help a listener understand how you work without needing a memorized speech.

A word before you start

An assistant can help you explore an idea, and your own checks make that help useful. Try first, ask for a bounded hint or change, verify the result, then explain it unaided. The same routine works with a peer or manual checklist.
